Youth Center Residents Offer Solutions in Cincinnati Enquirer Op-Ed
The Hamilton County Juvenile Court Youth Detention Center houses children who have been arrested on delinquency charges, and cares for them while their cases proceed through the juvenile justice system. It is staffed by a team of dedicated, caring, and trained professionals, committed to providing a safe, secure, and structured environment. The County partners with Cincinnati Public Schools to provide daily education.
In their English class, Youth Center students were asked to share their thoughts on the public debate around youth violence in our city. A compilation excerpt from about 25 students in grades 7-12, coming from both charter schools and traditional public schools throughout Hamilton County, was shared with the Cincinnati Enquirer and published in the Dec. 8, 2024 print edition.
“We know we won’t be able to stop all of the violence,” they write, “but asking us for answers would be a good start.”
