Juvenile Court 101 Video Series Debuts
For many people, Juvenile Court is a mystery. A lot of people think it is adult court, but for kids. It is not. Juvenile courts are responsible for keeping children safe and giving them an opportunity to for a bright future.
Kids who need legal protection fall into four categories:
- Delinquency: children facing allegations that would be considered criminal if committed by an adult.
- Custody: children of unmarried parents.
- Child Support: children entitled to financial support.
- Dependency: children who are alleged to be abused, neglected, and/or dependent.
To help people understand Juvenile Court better Hamilton County Juvenile Court Administrative Judge Kari Bloom is starting a series of video posts called “Juvenile Court 101” answering questions about the Court. We’ll post a new video about every other week. Please follow along here and on our social media sites.
The first video is entitled What Does Juvenile Court Do?
And if you have a question you’d like Judge Bloom to address, please email it to Kelly Leon (kleon@juvcourt.hamilton-co.org) or Storm Boyd (sboyd@juvcourt.hamilton-co.org) and we’ll be happy to consider it for a Juvenile Court 101 segment.
